- Novel Cave Radio Antenna uses Small Ceramic Tiles (14-15)
- Induction loop antennas are often inefficient due to skin and proximity effects, self-capacitance and tuning losses. However, an electric field antenna will generate a magnetic field which, in some circumstances, can exceed the field strength available from a loop antenna of similar mass and power dissipation. The main difficulty is in achieving efficiency at a small size. David Gibson explains how this may be achieved using high-permittivity ceramic tiles.

The CREG journal (ISSN 1361-4800) is published quarterly by the Cave Radio & Electronics Group of the British Cave Research Association. BCRA is a UK registered charity and is a constituent body of the British Caving Association, undertaking charitable activities on behalf of the BCA. CREG's aims are, by means of a regular Journal, other publications and meetings, to encourage the development and use of radio communications and other electronic and computer equipment in caving and related activities.
Annual Subscriptions are currently £8.50 (UK). The overseas rates are £10 (EU), £10 (World, surface mail) and £12.50 (World Airmail). Most back issues are still in print. For details, please contact CREG.
