Given a table of ISBN/ISSN numbers, this program checks them for validity and formats them correctly
This software is not guaranteed to work! If you have any problems, please let me know the version of the software - see foot of page.
This program deals only with English Language ISBNs. For other ISBNs it merely flags them as "Language Group" and checks the checksum. For formatting Language Group numbers you need to manually check a list, such as that in RangeMessage_byGroupPrefixDesc.pdf. You can generate that PDF from the master database by visiting https://www.isbn-international.org/range_file_generation
NB: to use this facility "usefully" you need to edit the underlying Javascript to meet your precise needs, e.g. to change the reporting messages etc. A "control panel" to set these options would be a later development. Search for *&&* in isbnProcess.js.
Example: Type 9780900265464 into the box. And try a random variation to that.
